It has been a while since we have seen Rudolph’s red nose, heard jingle bells ringing or had a perfect excuse to place an actual tree in our living rooms instead of in the garden. But as the year is cheerfully preparing to go out with a blast, it is my pleasure to remind you that the time for indoor trees has arrived once again and of course that a new year sparkling with brilliant ideas is just around the corner…

Enjoy the end of the old and remember the best of it. Celebrate the start of the new and expect the most of it!

2009 has been a year of change, not only for the US citizens but even more for marketing and market research. In order to get close to the consumer, we are forced to reinvent ourselves and to change the rules of the game. Change is necessary, but also implies moving into the dark sometimes and letting go of things we know.

For the coming year, I wish everyone a year of discovery and exploration in this fascinating search for better insights.

… and of course also a good health, a lot of fun and a dream come true!

After a rough year of change let’s use Christmas for some reflection. What is it that drives us? Is it uncertainty and fear for what comes or are we inspired and hopeful about the new challenges that lie ahead. At InSites Consulting we have made our choice…it is innovation, passion and drive that will shape our future and the future of our clients.

Christmas is all about connecting with friends and family. It’s the time to forget about business for a while and focus on the people that are important to you. So close down your e-mail inbox, switch off your mobile phone, stop sending us market research briefings (for a few days ) and spend some time with your loved ones. After all, friendship, love and time are still free in 2009-10.

I can wish my family, friends, colleagues, business relations and acquaintances all the best. But, since after all we all are doing fine, my Christmas wishes are going out to children in the world who can use Christmas wishes more than we do. However, I still wish you a merry Christmas.

Christmas time is a time of romantic walks, enjoy'ing Christmas songs and lights in cities around the world, giving presents, good food & wine... a great time, if you ask me. Enjoy this time of year with your friends and family, make some time for eachother. Don't worry about emails and mobile phones for a few days and just be happy and relaxed. A perfect way to start 2010 with new loads of energy. Enjoy life!

We were groovy in the Seventies, we loved fluo in the Eighties and we listened to grunge in the Nineties, but as of 31st of December of 2009 it’s finally bye bye to the confusing past decade of the Aughties, Nillies, Twenty-Oh’s, Double Oh’s or Oh-ties. It’s officially ‘farewell’ to the Zeroes decade.

Starting from January 1st 2010: in come the Tennies. Eum sounds weird. OK the Tens. No, the One-ies. Wrong. The …. Ouch! Here we go again for another 10 years. Any suggestions for a better term? Please send them to hakim@insites.eu

In the meanwhile: enjoy the Tennies and hope to see you in good health in the Twenties.

Are you dreaming of a white Christmas?
White was the color of the year 2009 and also a trend in fashion and design (iPods, the Wii, white candy bars, 10% of European cars etcetera). Virgin white equals purity, innocence, perfection and the truth. You should read “De kracht van wit”, (The Power of White), Fons Van Dyck’s new book on this subject!

But a white Christmas would be the biggest cliché I could wish you, right. So why not wish you a magenta Christmas? That color represents cheerfulness and excitement. Or what about an orange one? Warmth, richness and sex would be your part then. I bet you would like that in 2010! Still Goethe once wrote that developed humans dislike colors… Considering this, I will wish you a black Christmas. I do reckon it symbolizes darkness, sin and deviation. But at least it’s less boring than white. Amy Winehouse (that other great writer next to Goethe) already announced “Back to Black”. Obama in the White House actually means Black Power and hey, once you go black … So don’t feel blue in these last dark days of recession year 2009. Be a black beauty!

Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind.
It is tenderness for the past, courage for the present, hope for the future.
It reminds us that we're here for something else besides ourselves.

New Year’s Eve has always been a time to look back and reflect on the past year. But, more importantly, it is a team to look forward. A time to unfold new horizons and realize new dreams. A time to rediscover the strength and faith within you, to rejoice in simple pleasures and gear up for a new challenge. I wish you a truly fulfilling 2010 to look forward to !
